Hot Spiced Rum Review by Proof 66
Proof66.com
"This is a Tier 1 score in the Rum category. It means the spirit has won the highest recommendation at least once and probably many times. ... Dry County Hot Spiced Rum is meant to be a decided step away from more common cinnamon and vanilla flavors. They use cayenne, cocoa, and seven other unnamed spices in the blend for a taste that is peppery and but smooth on the finish." Read more:

Podcast by Barley, Stills and Mash

"They are very careful with their recipes at Dry County, taking nearly a year to develop each new one. Howard and Jennifer and their family contribute ideas and recipes, and then they try the recipe out on themselves and on loyal customers, tweaking the recipe over and over again until the product comes out smooth and flavorful. Only then do they add the product to their line-up.
"This innovation has resulted in some very original products, including key lime pie vodka, cinnamon toast vodka, coffee rum and many others. Howard and Jennifer tell their story in their own words on the podcast. Enjoy!" Check out the podcast here:

Black Rope Anise Review by Sip Northwest Magazine
Sip Northwest Magazine's Brett Konen, 12/2014
"Black Rope Anise has done more than well for itself, garnering our Best of the Northwest 2013 award for Best Herbal Spirit. ... Dry County steers clear of any addition of sugar, instead leaning on the natural sweetness in the botanicals it adds. They impart woodsy notes (cedar, spruce) and a minty finish to cap the anise-powered flavor profile. Black licorice lovers, rejoice—largely untempered, Black Rope Anise is like drinking a liquefied version." Read More:

We won best Fruit Liquor for our Apple Pie! Read More:
We couldn't find the text of the review on the website, but this is from the magazine:
"Unlike other apple pie liqueurs on the market, this one from Dry County Distillery in Marysville tastes much more like real homemade apple pie - with real cinnamon, lemon zest and crust made from scratch. It'd be great served warm with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream, just like a nice piece of homemade pie."
The Spirits of Snohomish County, WA by Northwest Travel & Life
Northwest Travel & Life's Carrie Uffindell, 9/1/2014
"A former beer and winemaker, Howard Johnson took his libation-crafting skills to the next level by opening a distillery with wife Jennifer two years ago. In addition to their clean, grain-based vodka and botanical-flavored gin, the Johnsons make an award-winning anise-flavored liqueur and an apple pie liqueur."

Drink Up: Washington Distilled Italian Spirits by Seattle Magazine
Seattle Magazine's A.J. Rathbun, 4/2014
They reviewed our Black Rope Anise!
"While Italy certainly isn’t the only country to make anise-flavored liqueurs, in my mind it makes the very best, and all others should be held up to Italy’s versions. Black Rope Anise contains no sugars (unlike most other liqueurs) and has a lighter body and mouthfeel, but balances that with a strong anise taste that shines bright in every sip and hints of sweetness from the botanicals. It’s a boon for licorice lovers, best served over ice."

"The family-operated distillery creates exquisite spirits: Copper Still, a grain-based vodka distilled and filtered to ultra-smoothness; Dry County Gin, a premium, non-traditional gin flavored with juniper, coriander, orange, cinnamon, and other botanicals; and Black Rope, anise-flavored, colorless, 80-proof liqueur with no added sugar." The Daily Sip by Sip Northwest Magazine
Sip Northwest Magazine's Erin James, 4/2013
"It’s one thing to make vodka and it’s another thing to make vodka that stands out from vodka. A dicey feat to accomplish successfully, but Marysville, Wash.’s Dry County Distillery gets the job done with their Still Vodka. The process is simple — distill and filter to the point that all of the grain-based and burnt flavor characteristics seen in mass-produced vodkas are removed. Dry County sports a spirit that is clean and silky smooth, colorless and flavorless, the unique combination to equaling high-quality vodka. Also brings a proud tear to this writer’s eye to see her hometown going back to its moonshining ways."

We also take requests, so if your great-great granddaddy was a moonshiner or your family has a favorite recipe from the old country, bring us the recipe and we'll happily take a crack at it."
